Tipuāraki II is based on a design I created for student project, Matariki Flag Collaboration Project, as part of my art diploma. I chose pīwakawaka in flight, set against a background of the Milky Way, to represent Tipuāraki, the star associated with everything that grows up in the trees: fruits, berries, and birds.
