Description
One of my favourite forest finds was a common bag moth (Liothula omnivora) endemic to New Zealand. One of its Māori names is pū a Raukatauri, in reference to the atua associated with flute music. In this work, I allude to this musical connection.
“Hine Raukatauri is best known as the Goddess of Flute Music. It is said that she loved her flute so much that she chose to live inside it.” – Taonga Pūoro
